I recently graduated from The New School in NYC and studied abroad at Parsons Paris. I studied Arts of Environmental Justice: Interdisciplinary Science, Fine Arts, and Religious Studies. There I created and led the Climate Justice Club and hosted/curated a few environmental justice art shows. I had a handful of internships and jobs including one at Biobus, a mobile lab that provides science lessons to students in the LES where I was a Biology instructor who designed and taught a curriculum focused on art, ecology, and social justice. Another internship included being an artists' assistance in Paris, where I contributed to constructing trees from recycled books for an exhibit for the 2024 Olympics.
Currently I am a Food and Farming Coordinator at the Ecology Center in Berkeley. In this program I contribute to increasing food access at California farmers' markets.
OSA has deeply encouraged me to pursue education in the arts and professional opportunities that integrate art.
Being from East Oakland means that I grew up in a multicultural community that values many forms of intelligence. Being creative and street smart is just as or even more important as being book smart. Oakland has made me a well rounded person that is socially conscious, empathetic, and deeply driven to enact justice in the world.
My fondest memories at OSA are learning how to printmake with Ms. Craig in the Visual Arts Department. It felt meaningful to learn the different techniques such as Intaglio and fun to swap prints with my peers. Additionally, I loved exhibiting my paintings and drawings as a kid at The White Box (OSA's art gallery).
I highly respect and appreciate the teachers that I had at OSA! I learned an incredible deal about art and life from Ms. Bradbrun, Mr. Oz, Ms. Bradshaw, Ms. Wiess, Mr. Underwood, Mr. Pablo, Ms. Craig, Mr. Younge, and the Literary Arts faculty.
