What have you been doing post OSA?

In 2010, I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Political Science and Peace & Conflict Studies. I also did a year of study abroad at University College Dublin-Ireland while an undergraduate student. My career has focused on civic engagement, education, and youth development in the nonprofit sector mostly here in Oakland, CA. My nonprofit work now focuses on fundraising and I currently work as the grants manager at Oakland Promise. I continue to live in Oakland, CA where I was born and raised.

Are there any career highlights that you'd like us to share and celebrate?

In proper form as a Literary Arts graduate of OSA I have a side hustle as a freelance editor where I work with authors and students. In 2021, I completed the Professional Sequence in Editing certificate at UC Berkeley Extension.

How did attending OSA impact your life and career?

OSA gave me a deeper love and appreciation for all the arts that are still a part of my daily life! Also, completing the Literary Arts emphasis helped me identify as a writer and lean into jobs where I could employ this strength.

What does being from Oakland (or the greater Bay Area) mean to you?

Being from Oakland means having grit, a bent for radical and progressive politics, a “live and let live” mindset, an enjoyment of diversity and cultural exchange–and being an OG!

What is your fondest memory of being a student at OSA?

Walking the stage at graduation!

Please share which teacher/class at OSA had the greatest impact on you and why:
