What have you been doing post OSA?

I have been working in the Music Industry and Live Entertainment Industry in New Orleans, LA

Are there any career highlights that you'd like us to share and celebrate?

Big highlight for me was being apart of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour when she stopped in NOLA. Although I was doing a smaller part it was still amazing to be apart of a tour at this scale. Not to mention I’ve been a huge fan of hers for YEARS so being able to go from seeing her to working on a tour of hers is pretty amazing to me. Another highlight was working at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival where I worked a little more hands on with the talent. I was checking them in and making sure they had vans ready to take them to their stages for sound checks/performances. Super amazing to see some local talent and meet them before their gig! Even got to see some of my friends/professor from college pull up for a show so that was really fun!

How did attending OSA impact your life and career?

Attending OSA gave me the necessary musical knowledge at a very early age which allowed me many great opportunities while at OSA. Not only that but it prepared me greatly for college life as a music major. My high school- college transition was very smooth because many music classes were shaped like OSA. It made me feel comfortable quicker in a new environment.

What does being from Oakland (or the greater Bay Area) mean to you?

Being from Oakland is very special to me because we are such a melting pot of diversity and that not everyone looked the same while I attended. That what Oakland represented not only inside building but outside on the streets. There is so much rich culture there that I’m very proud to represent down here in New Orleans.Especially a music industry worker, the influence the Bay Area has had on music too is something I’m always ready to show here in NOLA.

What is your fondest memory of being a student at OSA?

There’s so many memories but some of my fondest were always the time of the all school musicals. I was just such an amazing way to see everyone showcase their talents while also putting on a great show. I loved being apart of the band for Hairspray, FAME and Les Mis because it was something that I don’t think I would’ve gotten if I didn’t go to OSA. The teamwork of everyone was just so inspiring to see as well as the audience smiles after we would kill it!

Please share which teacher/class at OSA had the greatest impact on you and why:

Mr. Rosenberg, Mr. Ellis, Mr. Kanozik, Ms. Menzies, Ms. Humphrey, Ms. Gueren, Ms. Shaw. There so many! From Music to Academic teaches, this list of names have had a huge impact on my life over that course of my 7 years there and beyond. Things they said in their classes or just one on one help I’ve received has just been so influential to my formative years.
