I graduated from American University with a degree in musical theatre and have been working towards professional acting and playwriting opportunities while making a living as a theatre technician and stage manager.
I was INCREDIBLY prepared for college theatre classes - a lot of it was review and expansion upon things I learned in high school. Also, the uniquely creative focus of our “regular” academics left a large impact on me and has given me an interesting perspective to view the world from.
It’s a complicated place that I’m proud to be from.
I don’t know that I could pick a single instance, but in general my fondest memories are the times some little combination of us would just let ourselves be silly in the corners of Sweets Ballroom.
The Gov/Econ class had the biggest practical effect, as it helped set me off on a course toward a political science major (which didn’t last very long, but still decided my school). I also gained practical personal economic skills that I still refer back to to this day.
